Sarah’s Creative Occasions hosts AABW visit to NATS Prestwick

AABW visit to NATS Prestwick

Last week ‚  I hosted a visit by the Ayrshire Association of Business Women (AABW) to NATS Prestwick. ‚   Guests arrived at 1830 and were welcomed with refreshments into the recently opened Conference Suite in the new Air Traffic Control Centre building.

The night was kicked off with a thrilling presentation on the business of NATS, what Air Traffic Control is and images of past, present and old Air Traffic Control in Ayrshire. ‚   Two Air Traffic Controllers then escorted the group into the existing operations rooms, to see live Air Traffic Control and witness the real working environment.

Guests were then treated to a hot buffet in the Viewing Gallery of the new Air Traffic Control Centre, where they could see the stark contrast of what modern life will be like for Air Traffic Control when the new centre goes live later this year.

Everyone had a free goodie bag to take home, which included ‚  NATS branded gifts and their very own flight strip.

Floral ideas for July

Blue delphiniumOrange crocosmiaPink astilbePurple lavendarYellow hypericum

Having cut back herbaceous plants in the last month that were growing out of control, I was worried that I would lose the colour in my garden but I was wrong, as this month I have a selection of shrubs and perennials in flower, including:

  • Lavendar
  • Delphiniums
  • Crocosmia
  • Astilbe
  • Hypericum

Some ideas to decorate your home include:

  • cutting a few spriggs of lavendar and tying them with ribbon, to place across napkins laid at the table for guests
  • sprinkling delphinium heads onto crisp white table linen for friends coming over for brunch or lunch
  • placing tall stems of crocosmia into a slender tall vase of water to add impact to a coffee table or sill

Family visit to Dumfries & Galloway Aviation Museum

Dumfries & Galloway Aviation Museum Air & Ground Show

Dumfries Limo Company

Excalibur Limousines

I’ve been in my family home town of Dumfries this weekend, to catch up with my folks, see how my brother-in-law is progressing with their house renovation and admiring my mum’s glorious gardens.

Today we also visited the Dumfries & Galloway Aviation Museum’s Air & Ground Show on the old Dumfries airfield in Heathfield. ‚   We all had a fabulous time ‚  taking my 3 nephews around the show, which included:

  • short helicopter ride over Dumfries
  • sitting in the various planes, trucks and tractors
  • they’re only young so it was a good excuse to go on the tea cups
  • watch the Royal Navy Sea King helicopter land

I also got the opportunity to view inside the local Dumfries Limo Company stretched Hummer limos, and the beautiful Excalibur Limousines. ‚   I have to admit that I’ve never been in one, and they were a lot more luxurious than I imagined, so I’d definitely recommend them for girls with class!

Butterfly Summer Lunch for Cancer Research UK

Last Sunday I attended the Butterfly Summer Lunch hosted by Lorna Dempsey of Butterfly Events at the Lochside House Hotel. ‚   We had a wonderful afternoon including:

  • Cumnock School of Highland Dancing
  • Fashion show of clothing from Begg Scotland, Jackie Jeans ‚  & Christies narrated by Annie Scott (formerly of West Sound FM)
  • Speaker Phillipa Whitford telling us about her role in cancer treatment
  • Prize raffle
  • Guest Fiona Lees from East Ayrshire Council
  • Auction (and I won a bid for a full-page advertorial in the Mums In Control magazine)
  • Jen McGinlay from West Sound FM

All proceeds were donated to Cancer Research UK, a charity dear to my heart.

Well done Lorna!

Ayrshire Wedding Favours for Liz & Frazer

Liz & Frazer's Wedding Favours

Unique favours for the ladies

Unique favours for the gents ‚

Liz & Frazer’s Wedding Day is here and I can now share with you images of the beautiful Wedding Favours I created just for them, based on their wish for a country farmer’s theme.

The ladies was a miniature silver watering can, with Busy Lizzie seeds tied with ribbon in a bomboniere, and the gents had miniature silver pails with Glenmorangie whisky sitting on a bed of hay and tied with ribbon.

Congratulations to Liz & Frazer on their Wedding Day and to their future life together xx

Four Weddings & No Funeral on Living TV

Four Weddings on Living TV

For all the girls out there, did you see the premier of Four Weddings last night on Living TV? ‚   It’s sponsored by Confetti and it’s similar to Come Dine With Me, in that there are 4 brides to be each week, and they get to attend and score each others Wedding Day.

From last night’s episode I particularly liked the venue of the winning couple Amanda and Brian, who got married at Eastwood Park Manor House in Gloucestershire.

Even if like me you are already married, it’s still a bit of good fun telly to relax to in an evening, so do check out future episodes on Living TV each Monday at 9pm.

Mock-up display for Ayr Flower Show 2009

This weekend I started developing my mock-up display for the Ayr Flower Show in my garage. ‚   It will be different to last year’s display which was created around a white arch ‚  planted with hydrangea and agapanthus.

The centre of my display ‚  will be ‚  a white ‚  metal ‚  2-seater bench ‚  patterned with clematis, and my tables and shelves will be adorned with prettly china and glassware full of fresh floral blooms, and lots of colourful party ideas like balloons and sample invitations.

Pop back to my News Blog each week to view progress on my exhibition.

Ayrshire Wedding Client Feedback

Extract of Liz & Frazer's feedback

Last month I completed creating ‚  a set of unique Wedding Favours for an Ayrshire couple, Liz and Frazer. ‚   Their wedding is imminent and until then I’m keeping the photos of their favours under wraps, but once their special day is here I will share with you my creations.

Liz and Frazer were kind enough to send me through their feedback, an extract of which is shown above. ‚   I’m delighted with their response which ends saying “We appreciated the fact Sarah was open minded and was willing to take our wacky ideas and do her up most in achieving the quality product we were aiming for”.

Thank you Liz & Frazer
