Last month I popped across to Carrutherstown in Dumfries & Galloway to visit the Hetland Hall Hotel Wedding Fayre. ‚ Carrutherstown is a special place for me, as my parents moved us up from Ipswich in Suffolk to Scotland in 1989, and Carrutherstown became our first scottish home. ‚ In my teens I used to work at Hetland Hall Hotel, but that was well over a decade ago and this was my first visit back to Hetland Hall Hotel since I left and what a makeover it has had.
Diane and her team at Hetland have done a fantastic job of bringing Hetland Hall Hotel’s interiors up-to-date with colourful contemporary designs. ‚ One of my favourite rooms was dressed in turquoise and chocolate brown. ‚ The inside decor now complements the stunning grounds and it’s outlook across the Solway Firth, making it a wonderful ‚ venue for your Wedding.
There was a good variety of suppliers at this year’s wedding fayre, and as most of them were local to Dumfries & Galloway ‚ rather than Ayrshire, I made some new contacts. ‚ As well as meeting the exhibitors, ‚ we were given a guided tour around their newly refurbushed bedrooms, including the gorgeous honeymoon suite.
Outside the entrance to Hetland Hall Hotel, White Heather Weddings were displaying a range of their beautifully unique cars and one I fell in love with was their Lady Eleanor, an aquamarine blue Rolls Royce Silver Shadow, see the picture above.
I am now into ‚ my second year on the Ayrshire Association of Business Woman (AABW) Committee, as Treasurer but ‚ I have also taken on the ‚ role of Website Adminstrator. ‚ We now have 5 committee members, and here’s a shot of us taken two ‚ weeks ago ‚ at our Chairwomen’s house where we met for a committee meeting.
Here’s a list of the Wedding Fayres scheduled locally in Ayrshire and surrounding areas ‚ for the next few weeks.
- Friday 9th, Saturday 10th & Sunday 11th there is a bridal show at Lady G in East Kilbride
- Sunday 18th April from 12noon to 4pm at the Lochside House Hotel by New Cumnock
- Sunday 18th April from 12noon to 4pm at the Burnhouse Manor Hotel in Burnhouse
- Sunday 25th April from 12noon to 5pm at the Thistle Hotel in Glasgow
Last April I shared with you our little visit by three ducks (2 male & 1 female ‚ mallard ducks) ‚ on the road outside our front garden. ‚ Well last night a very similar duck trio actually came onto our lawn. ‚ I raided the kitchen cupboard for a couple of slices of bread and I fed them to the friendly, but cautious, ducks. ‚ It was a nice moment to capture for ‚ Easter Sunday.
So were they the same three ducks?!?
Happy Easter everyone, I hope you are enjoying a lovely weekend ‚ in the sunshine.
I have recently completed organising a large corporate function for Prestwick based company, NATS, who were celebrating the opening of their new air traffic control centre.
As Pauline’s words say “was a fantastic evening”, “you name it you thought of everything”, “you cared about how it all fitted together” and “orchestrating the whole thing in such a professional manner”.
I am very proud of this event, as it was so large in comparison to weddings of 100+ guests and it was thrilling to see it all fit into place.
