Princess Margaret (the Queen’s sister), married photographer Antony Armstrong-Jones at Westminster Abbey on 6th May 1960. ‚ Their wedding was the first Royal wedding to be broadcast on television.
Princess Margaret was born at Glamis Castle in 1930 and was ‚ the first royal birth in Scotland since the 17th Century.
The Duke of Edinburgh escorted Princess Margaret down the aisle, for her father (King George VI) had died years earlier in 1952.
She dressed in white silk, a gown also designed by ‚ Norman Hartnell, and wore the diamond Poltimore Tiara from the 1870s.
